Half-term hunting at the Winkworth Arboretum

It was really nice to have some time with my own kids this half-term and especially nice to actually have a whole day of sunshine – by this time of year I am desperate for warmth and sun!

The girls said they wanted to ‘have an adventure, mummy’, so I found somewhere from the many amazing National Trust places we have around this area that we had not been to before: Winkworth Arboretum. Its a gorgeous place, even in Winter, so I imagine in the Autumn it must be truly stunning. They were also running a Scavenger Hunt, so we grabbed a bucket and set out.

As a photographer, sometimes its more of a challenge taking photographs of your own children than other people’s… they often start ‘posing’ for me, so getting natural shots can be tricky. But they were fully absorbed in the wonderful surroundings here, so I could indulge in the sort of portraits I really love to capture: natural photographs of children playing and being themselves, which I know will hold happy memories for them in the future.
