Daddy’s do parenting differently to us mums. Whether it’s more high-key (think winding the kids up into a hyper-frenzy of excitement just before bedtime) or low-key (think giving doughnuts for breakfast), Dads do it differently. After quite a few years of watching this unfold before my eyes, I have come to the conclusion that overall this is a Good Thing.
Although sometimes it might drive me crazy when my kids wail “But DADDY lets us do it”, I wouldn’t want it any other way. So long as me and hubby stay united and cohesive on all the really important parenting matters, then thats all that really matters. And there are most definitely certain things that Dads are GREAT at – throwing kids up in the air, giving shoulder-rides, piggy-backs, (and running along holding the saddle of the bike whilst my daughters tries valiantly to cycle without stabilisers!) to name but a few.
So this one goes out to all those fab dads out there. Carry on doing it differently. (And that includes the dad-dancing thing. Don’t ever stop doing that. Cos it’s just funny.)
