Oh sunshine and warmth, where have you gone to? Is it because it is half-term and you want to laugh in the face of all us parents who had plans for ‘at least dry’ weather?
Yes, its yet another grey, drizzly and murky day. Its already becoming slightly hard to remember that gorgeous glimpse of summer that we had a short while ago, so I thought I would blog a little reminder just to warm us all up.
It was a beautifully sunny, warm saturday evening the weekend before last, and my 8-year old daughter was finding it a little difficult to get to sleep. So I whispered: “How about a little photo-shoot with Mummy?”. Her eyes lit up immediately. A little outing, at bedtime, without her little sister (already in bed)? She was so delighted, she even let me pick an outfit for her. Believe me, that never happens anymore.
She carried my reflector, and we went for wander down the road. Our council has been a little lax in getting all the verges cut, which means that there is a multitude of daisies, buttercups and long grass. Weed heaven. And perfect for what I had in mind. A little 20 minute jaunt, just me and her and capturing some of the wonderful golden evening sunshine.
I always find it a real treat to have some 1 to 1 time with my kids. I don’t have to think about dividing my time equally and we can just chat without interruptions from the other sibling. And so it was… we chatted, we wandered. Here are some of my favourites from the mini-20-minute-really-should-be-in-bed-shoot.
And if anyone sees that sun, please tell it to head back this way. Thanks.
Enjoy. K x
