Don’t you just love surprises? I do, and being part of a family one always makes me feel very honored. This Family Photo Session took place back in February and was a Top Secret Mission for Daddy’s very special present. My brief was to capture some gorgeous and natural portraits of two little pre-schoolers and the family dog, preferably in black and white photography.
Their mum did warn me that the two children were very boisterous and full of energy (and thats not even counting the dog). Which they were… and I loved every second! These two little imps were just so full of life and the whole joy of it, that they made it an incredibly fun afternoon. And is one of the many reasons why I LOVE the style of photography I do, because it allows children to totally be themselves and have fun.
We went for a walk in some local woods, collected (lots of) sticks, made some (pretend) campfires with the sticks, used sticks as tools and generally had a fab time (with sticks). And whilst the stick-fest went on, I captured some wonderful portraits which have now been turned into beautiful framed wall art for Daddy.
Was he surprised? Oh yes. And very happy. Which, of course, makes me very happy too.
Here are some of my favourites from that mad-capped afternoon. And if you would like to commission some beautiful family portraits for your own family, then do get in touch (especially if its a surprise – I do love them!).
